To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this recommendation on behalf of Reagan Gardenhour, a graduating senior I have known at Shippensburg University since Fall 2024 when she was a student in my Women’s Literature (ENG-345) course. Reagan, a Journalism major, entered my class with a drive to immerse herself in the field of contemporary feminist literature alongside advanced English majors. In this upper division course, Reagan jumped right in, equipping herself with the tools of literary criticism and writing under new disciplinary standards. After embracing the learning curve, it didn’t take long for Reagan to adjust to the challenge of the course, and by its end, her determination to learn, grow, and succeed elevated her and her work to the same par as those English majors who had been engaged with the discipline much longer. In fact, on her final paper, I concluded, “Reagan! You did it, and I’m so proud of you! You reached Galioto excellence! Yay!,” and this effusive praise summarizes my opinion of Reagan and the kind of professional standard she already has set for herself. In fact, this very essay is featured in the 2024 edition of Write the Ship, Shippensburg University’s campus journal of academic writing, where Reagan’s commitment to growth has been acknowledged by our community and represented as a model for future students. She has proven herself to be a determined lifelong learner: one who challenges herself, builds on her own strengths, and develops important mentorships. I anticipate nothing but success at all levels for Reagan, so I recommend her enthusiastically, and I know that we’ll be sharing book titles with each other for years to come.

Sincerely,
Dr. Erica D. Galioto
